Mulcock Ranch, located 15 miles east of Mayhill, NM on US 82 (elevation 5700‘) is a fisherman’s paradise.  Anglers  enjoy summer temperatures that rarely exceed 85˚ and sunny, winter days that can reach 65˚. This spring-fed stretch of the Penasco River meanders through the ranch for over 5 miles, ranging from still, deep pools to magnificent 40’ high waterfalls.  Hatches of baetis, tricos and caddis are plentiful year round.  Both dry flies and nymphs yield wild brown and rainbow trout to anglers of all skill levels.

We are proud to announce the formation of the Penasco Spring River Fly Fishing Club.  This is a limited access, catch and release, quality water fishery allowing only artificial flies with a single, barbless hook.  Each member will be allowed  one fish over 22” per year.  By limiting memberships, the fishing pressure of recent years will be greatly reduced.
